OCEAN IMPACT

01 . 05 . 2020 | BRANDING, PRESENTATIONS, STATIONERY & WEBSITE DESIGN

It’s not very common that you get to work on projects that speak deeply to your soul. Ocean Impact was a project that came to us - quite literally - out of the blue. We had worked with The Sight Seekers on a few design projects in the past, but when they asked us to come alongside them to work on this campaign we responded with a resounding yes. The ocean holds such a special place in our hearts even though we both were born and raised in-land. It is a place we go to seek rest, to marvel at the abundance of life underwater and to stand in awe of creation. The thought of being a part of protecting this wild force of nature was a no-brainer. We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with this unbelievably talented group of creatives on such an important project.

Currently 5% of South Africa’s coastal waters are protected within Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This improvement on 0.4% is a significant achievement but is not enough. The global United Nations target is 10% by 2020, with scientists calling for at least 30% to achieve ocean health and resilience. Wild Oceans and Ocean Impact hope to mobilise a regional movement for increased ocean protection, paving the way for African states to support a target of at least 30% by 2030.
